I'll get more info later about this very powerful piece of music. It is loud, noisy, earthy, and resonant.
enjoy.

BSWC One-a-Day: SinQ - Who's Afraid of Noises?
Hooked by the sample and then by the quiet simplicity that Sander van Oirschot, a Dutch electronic musician, brings to this release.
The Lisa Debenedictis sample comes from one of her Magnatune releases and lives at ccMixter.
The release notes discuss today's selection:
SinQ's blend of triphop, electronics, and ambient is evocative and beautiful, with first track 'Who's Afraid Of Noises?' using haunting female vocals, samples from noted Dutch jazz pianist Jeroen van Vliet, and a loping Bristolian sound to air things out in a rather wonderful way.I should point out that this is the second reference to the Bristol sound on this blog in a week. How cool is that?
Put your headphones on and join me in contemplation.

BSWC One-a-Day: Zoogoo - Crazy
The natives are restless: I'm referring to Jon Dean and Samuel Glaser from Clearwater, Florida. Their self titled release on you are not stealing records, Zoogoo, brings a fresh experimental attitude to today's one-a-day. Crazy, the first track, is one rapid theme after another, not stopping to give you a breath. Zoogoo identify themselves on myspace as IDM / Ambient / Psychedelic. The psychedelic comes across really well with the addition of video. If you visit their myspace page, make sure to play the video under "About Zoogoo." Excellent, and somewhat disturbing. If you are looking for a peaceful experience, Zoogoo might not be your speed. If you're looking for something to chew on ...
enjoy.

BSWC One-a-Day: Cappuccino - Nimm das Geld
Squeezing this one in under the wire.
I have played German hip-hop artist, Cappuccino on BSWC-the Show in the past, but felt it was time to put this track into the One-a-Day feed.
You will want to follow this link to download the rest of this release. Excellent stuff.

BSWC One-a-Day: Quallofill - Her Private Playground
Here is a very sweet song recorded by this Dutch ensemble. It has a nice loungy, sixties sound and it makes me feel good. You can find this song on a DVD being released by Creative Commons Netherlands. They formally released the DVD at a Creative Commons Salon in Amsterdam this past December.
The DVD project was open to submissions for a couple months last spring and they had over 130 songs from more than 50 artists. They selected just 13 tracks and then opened the project for visual submissions to compliment the selected music.
Quallofill is a duo from Rotterdam that have been recording together since 2003. In 2005, they performed in the finale of the Grote Prijs van Zuid-Holland and won third place in the competition. Keep an eye out for them.
This tune is from a release called The Man Who Likes Trouble on Poptronique.
You can be their friend at MySpace.

BSWC One-a-Day: Authist & Dub One! - K2 (K.Fog) remix
K2 (Authist & Dub One! remix) achieves an ambient rock dub layered with drums and guitars this piece creates an excellent mood. Where the original K2 is reflective, moody, with some industrial undertones, the remix makes the piece more instantaneously accessible - I do mean this in a good way. Authist & Dub One! hail from Berlin, Germany.
Overall K. Fog, from Chemnitz, Germany, has released a great album in The K-Series. It should also be noted that the license employed by this release includes "No Derivative Works" - the two remixes tailing the release, which fall under the same license, are the only exceptions.

BSWC One-a-Day: Aphilas - That's Just What it is For
This track is from a Miasmah release entitled Instrumentally Ill EP [mia049] that contains 6 wonderful tracks of joy and wonder.
Aphilas is two producers from Finland. The release notes have the skinny:
my notes tell me here we are presented with 'two finnish producers armed with second-hand vinyl and outdated software', need i say more? here we have the perfect accompaniment to those late night smoking sessions, hit repeat and toke on, this is the bristol sound too long forgotten.
Take a moment, listen and then visit the link above and pull the entire release down. If you don't believe me, here is a review from "the buddhist":
Grab this shizznit now!. Share it with your friends. This is music made by people who make music because they LOVE to make music. It's REAL music. Music with meaning.

BSWC One-a-Day: hop Sounds - Trans_X
This electronic piece builds very nicely, adding layers, tones, and excitement. Just as you fall easily into its trance you'll be pulled out with a feeling that the song has changed. Some recognizable themes to delight you. Great music to work by. I have no idea who hop sounds is. This is the beauty and the pain of so much access to information on the Internet and so much great music through archive.org. The release was from the Off & Green netlabel, which was created in 2005 by Fresto. The statement on the archive.org translated by Google from French to English reads:
"Hop Sounds is a panoply of sounds which one likes here… One likes, one does not like… But, when one likes, it is TRUE happiness!!! "
Subsystem7 likes it, true happiness, and true happiness to all of you out there. Enjoy. (oh and download the entire release)

BSWC Video: Jonathan Coulton - Code Monkey
Via the ccMixter blog comes this music video by Stolee. Thanks to Mixter Teru for watching YouTube with an eye for cool work using ccMixter material.
BSWC One-a-Day: Hidden Fortress - We Be Gettin' Busy
I haven't spent too much time at the site, but it does appear to be mostly content that originated at ccMixter. Cool idea, but I have to admit that I will continue to spend my time combing through the amazing wealth of material at ccMixter.
We know a little about Hidden Fortress. They are from the U.K.
The name was chosen from Akira Kurosawa’s film of the same name, and because of the intended and continued secrecy of who they really are, wanting to be judged on what they do, not what they were. After an initial request from a student of Matthew’s “Wind Chill Factor” to be remixed their appetite grew, now Hidden Fortress re-mixes are spreading like a wild fire. They haven't contributed at ccMixter since July, 2006.
Today's selection includes a sample by the Beastie Boys from the Wired CD collection that was the basis for the first ccMixter contest way back when.
