Wow.  Ashwan and ditto ditto in the same post.  I'm in ccMixter.org heaven.  Longtime mixter, Ashwan (2005) incorporates work by another longtime mixter, ditto ditto (2007) to create this amazing remix.

Ashwan is an artist as well as being a music producer.  He was born in Liverpool and now lives and works in Barcelona.

Ditto Ditto has been on the ccMixter scene since 2007 and has appeared in these pages before.  He is a skilled mixter and has also contributed some wonderful samples over the years.

Also, contributions come from Forensic, Ms. Vybe, and Snowflake.  Here is what Ashwan had to say about this piece:

I got seduced by Ditto Ditto’s remix of Snowflakes ‘The Light’, and inspired by the anniversary of the Berlin wall coming down recently and how that can function as a metaphor for the groundbreaking work that everyone involved in ccmixter is doing.

Always amazed at what a little time at ccMixter will turn up.  Turn it Up!

Very sweet and as some folks at ccMixter noted, "a little shy."  A lovely piece that is built on mixter Post_'s instrumental bit called "Not a Love Song".  Diaphane has done something really wonderful.

I took a moment to listen to the two pieces back-to-back at the songs Derivation page...yes, really wonderful. 

The tune was posted at ccMixter.org on November 21.  As I mentioned there were a lot of comments.  I particularly liked this back and forth:

Here is the song that was in my head all day. Yep. The Snowflake voice is working for me this season...this is going to be an important marker for the 2009 Christmas season for me. Snowflake at ccMixter. Oh, and count on a fantastic mix from Ditto. Thank you.

No duh, the amazing stuff that the ccMixter site brings forward every day is simply incredible. I went to visit today and found this absolute gem.

Ditto Ditto has already been featured on these pages and this little ditty, created in collaboration with Barbarella. It was posted on Sunday:

"This song has had many lifes (remixes), but, recently, Barbarella wanted to sing, wanted to try. So i’ve said..Ok, let’s give to this song another life. Barbarella had never sung before that, it’s the first time for her, to sing in a microphone. I’ve bought a new microphone for this occasion and we have recorded the voices last Friday, in only 2 or 3 hours..and after, i’ve played a new arrangement.
If you are interested, we have uploaded the acappella and the lyrics of Ani Casals on the Barbarella’s page.
Hope you’ll enjoy our first musical collaboration."

I'm going to make an admission this evening.

I have not being paying close enough attention to what is going down at ccMixter lately. I've been dipping into some of the posts of the last few months and have been really blown away.

Today's selection is a truly outstanding example. This is not Ditto Ditto's first time on these pages. The artist is extremely talented and produces wonderfully developed remixes that belong in your collection.

BSWC One-a-Day: Ditto - Ditto Ditto

Yep. Ditto is the name and Ditto Ditto is the name of the tune. French mixter, Ditto dropped his ccMixter debut onto the site on Monday and it instantly became a favorite in the Vieux Farka Toure / "Ana" Remix Contest currently running at the Creative Commons remix site.

The remix uses the "Ana" acapella track while working in additional instrumentation that gives it a uptown sensibility. He develops the track so well that you think that artist and producer were in the same studio doing real-time collaboration.

Mixter Gurdonark had this to say about the track:

This really captures the feel of the vocal. The way you build in the instruments into the mix is impressive. The sound quality is great. This is an excellent mix. the backing and the lead both fit into the rhythm so well. Lots of complexity,but the mix does not seem too busy. It stays real. Welcome to the mixter.
