We've been looking back at playlists of old to check in with some artists we followed back in 2005 and 2006. Many are nowhere to be found, remembered only by the tracks they left on archive.org or on netlabels that have gone extinct. But many are still active, or somewhere in between. Lonah, from Paris France, looks to be somewhere in between.
Today we present you with Fly Me, the third track from Lonah's second release on Jamendo, Au fond du temps [estrella sin cara]. It is the digital version of an album that was a collaboration with BinaryMind. You can see some of the wonderful artwork on the Jamendo page.
Enjoy!

Artist, social media, netlabel...we are not quite sure how to describe Hasenchat, but we found this track on Jamendo.com and wanted to share.
Hasenchat has a bunch of tracks on the ever wonderful Jamendo, however there isn't a lot of information. We followed the link to the Hasenchat.net site and found this bit of description:

Dieter Werner - Lodowa Komnata
Fittingly this haunted electronic track that was recorded in 1995 is from a release published in the future. Electronic Music from Year 1995 is the name of a release published by Dieter Werner Archive Records on Jamendo.com. The release is dated November 3, 2015. I'm losing myself in this ethereal collection of old school electronics.
He has been producing and recording music for years, beginning in Lodz, Poland in 1989. He has recorded for television and stage. He has been inspired by Klaus Schultze and Yello. There is quite a range of musical styles on display at Jamendo.
Here is a translated snip of his artist statement from Jamendo:
My idea is to combine elements of different musical styles sometimes very distant. In my compositions in addition to the mainstream, which is EL-Music, rub with m.in: trance, goa, electro, house, dark ambient, darkwave, but also unite symphonic music, old, ethnic, elements of hard rock, and other genres.
We loved Yello. And, oh...this is the 100th BSWC post of 2015.

Juanitos - Glitter Bomb
Gotta love a Best of release, particularly when it's the Best of Jaunitos. We happened to notice this tune was the most popular Juanitos tune (there are quite a few) on Jameno.com during 2014. In fact, it had 140,000 downloads and most of the others were around 40,000. Our interest was piqued.
It's a great tune.
A snappy 60's beat with an upbeat lounge sensibility and horns. What more could you ask for?
We posted some Jaunitos early in the year and here we are back at the trough...love, love, love.

Cumbi Ap - Activacioooowwn
Cumbi Ap is from Peru. I found them by searching Jamendo.com for cumbia. The release name is Control Oscilopical EP.
There is a wikipedia entry for Cumbia and it reads in part:

There is a wikipedia entry for Cumbia and it reads in part:
Cumbia began as a courtship dance practiced among the African population, which was later mixed with Amerindian steps and European and African instruments and musical characteristics. Cumbia is very popular in the Andean region and the Southern Cone, and is for example more popular than the salsa in many parts of these regions.[3]When I was looking at the release page for this track Jamendo was suggesting a number of Yoga Relaxation soundtracks. Yep. That's what I got.

Mr. Juan - Baby You're Really In Love
Today's post comes from France-based musician Juan Naveira aka Mr Juan who is also known for his side projects, Juanitos, Miss Emma and Limbo Deluxe. We had the pleasure of discovery when we posted a tune by Juanitos at the end of December. It was awesome to find his solo projects in February. Our selection is from a 2013 release called London Jerks. Ahhh. French/British amity abides.
Here is a note from Mr. Juan's website:
If you dare to call it as « muzak » then you should admit it is a sort of arty muzak whose inspirational sources do hark back to whimsical space age pop and elfish exotica/tiki pop in addition to the aforementioned sections.Elfish Exotica is awesome.

Professor Kliq - Seventeen
It's a great feeling when we can say, "awesome find." This is a track from an 2013 release called Wire and Flashing Lights from Jamendo.com. Actually, we found it on Soundcloud, but tracked the artist across to Jamendo.com and even found some of his stuff on archive.org. We love the hunt for #ccmusic.
Professor Kliq is from Chicago. He started making music the old fashioned way in 1996 with a Casio keyboard and a tape recorder. There is a bunch of really fine material posted at both Jamendo and Soundcloud. Some of it is absolutely jumping and some of it more cerebral and dreamy. This guy has a lot of talent.

Here is a little about the artist from Jamendo:
Raised in the west suburbs of Chicago, Professor Kliq (Mike Else) underwent a lengthy and profound evolution both musically and mentally. With a variety of names, (Sharp Harpsichord, Quaziteque, Kid Kranium, Professor K), he explored any kind of electronic music he developed an affinity for. With influences ranging from different trip-hop DJ's like Krush, Shadow and Cam to more experimental and noise-based artists like Aphex Twin and Squarepusher, he combines these modern elements with those he learned from music theory and his upbringing on jazz as well as 80's pop and electronic music.Really, click and find some really great music.

Love the tune, but don't have a lot of information on this duo made up of Rodrigo Arancibia and Marcelo Pérez Santiago. They have material posted on Jamendo dating from 2009 to 2012.
This tune is from their El Eclipse E.P. released in 2009. They call it pop. We call it good.

Fernando TRZ - Obliquities (TRZ / Lavoura)
Here is a smooth Samba/nujazz remix from Sao Paolo via Jamendo.com.
This was released in 2009. The release is called TRZ Remixes Volume 2. The tune is by Brazilian band, Lavoura whose recent tune, Camaragibe was featured in these pages last month. Really nice, this.
Don't have a lot on Fernando TRZ. He is a multi-instrumentalist and sound designer associated with UNESP, Sao Paulo State University in Bauru. He plays with a number bands including Lavoura and has some very cool stuff posted on Jamendo.com.

Yris ft. Ristrek - Charade
While Biotic is away, I'll be posting a selection or two. Enjoy this dark ambient piece delivered to us fresh through Jamendo by the artist Yris. This is a single, but maybe it will be part of an upcoming album release "The Riverside" planned for release April 6, 2015.One commenter on Jamendo said:
C'est comme si quelqu'un sachant avoir produit un arrangement irrĂ©sistible, baissait le son afin que les auditeurs tendent l'oreille. Et c'est dĂ©jĂ trop tard pour eux, ils ont entendu doublement sous cet effort tendu qu'ils tombaient sous le charme. Personne ne s'en inquiète, je suis moi-mĂªme tombĂ©. Revolution Void - Birth Of Afro Space Team
A cold rain has set in on this Sunday morning...what better time to refresh my music library with some Revolution Void.
I have always appreciated what Jonah Dempcy brings to the table with his jazzy electronic lounge sound. The combination of instruments marks his sound as unique on the CC landscape.
This track features Yuriko Miyamoto on keyboards. It is from a collection called Let 1,000 Flowers Bloom. A BSWC favorite from back in the day was a release called Increase the Dosage.
Jonah has been working the the Revolution Void concept since he was 12 in 1995. I turned on in 2005 and it is wonderful to see the evolution and continuity over the years.

Sly Collins - Sweet Mother
Collins has been performing for more than 30 years. He is from Ghana, but spent considerable time in Nigeria. Much of that time was spent working with Fela.
This tune, Sweet Mother is from a release on Jamendo.com called Total Unity. Here is a word or two on his musical philosophy:
"Our musicians don't want to learn. Every good musician must know how to play an instrument and that's what is reflected in my music career. I feel good making natural music again, playing the accordion and other instruments."Loving the international feel of this mixtape. Follow the link and explore.

Reole - La La
Reole is a producer with roots in Louisiana. The sound is jazzy with a taste of the hip hop. Seems like you can't go wrong here.
There is more on the Jamendo page for the release:
Although his main backbone is jazz, Reole feels music is music as, he says, “it can’t be pushed onto anyone, you either like it or you don’t, but I am sure there is something on here for everyone - represent your heart, soul simply follows.”Really, really good.

Kellee Maize - Lala Love
| Photo by Laura Petrilla |
It's a pop/hip hop sound with really meaningful lyrics and a nice bounce. She released her first album, Age of Feminine, in 2007. Today's post is from her 2012 album, Integration.
She is an activist and her interests are described on a very thorough Wikipedia page:
Maize is an activist on women’s rights, environmentalism, and issues relating to poverty and racism. Her spiritual side is reflected in her music. She studies world and environmental issues, the power of intention, meditation, quantum physics, astrology, Tarot and indigenous wisdom. Maize feels her purpose in life is to make music that sends out good energy and that makes people think.[5] In 2012, of her meditation practice, Maize said, "I learned Transcendental Meditation many years ago and found it to be life changing."[9]This is an exciting find and Kellee's music has found a home on my playlist.
