BSWC One-a-Day: Tunturia - Cast Shadows on Clouds

If you are hankering for a post-rock hit, this post is for you.

The netlabel, Lost Children has posted their latest compilation, The Silent Ballet Volume 4 [lostchildren025]. The release features 13 tracks of what you might call post-rock, but there are probably other names for it...regular readers are probably aware of my avoidance of labels for CC flavored goodness.

I decided to share Tunturia's Cast Shadows on Clouds which features a building intensity that powers you right along. You can find out more about this band that hails from Toronto at their MySpace page:
Like the desolate yet majestic plains of the arctic north, Tunturia’s sound is at times both harsh and beautiful combining elements of post-rock, ambient soundscapes and experimental noise.
If you are in Burlington, Ontario tonight you can slip on down to the Red Rooster and hear them open for a band called City of a Hundred Spires.

The folks from Lost Children describe their series of compilations in the release notes:
Volume IV continues the tradition of showcasing new, innovative artists emerging onto the larger global scene. Many of these acts are supporting self-released CDs, and we strongly encourage listeners to delve deeper into those musicians that pique an interest. It is through your support that the community thrives.
Give this one a try and continue to support netlabel, Creative Commons licensed music.
