I'll see your post-rock choice and raise you a post rock compilation! ;) The Silent Ballet: Volume 4 [LostChildren025] just released yesterday is a joint effort between The Silent Ballet (a netzine, just turning 1 year old that focuses on post-rock and instrumental music) and The Lost Children (a netlabel that releases "EPs and Full Lengths from Instrumental/Experimental/Post-Rockish kind of bands."). It features 13 very well put together tracks, self released and from some indie labels. The music was compiled with the upbeat energy of summer in mind.
Tunturia is out of Toronto, Ontario. They claim to be "the exact opposite of what happens at a rock show." With 2 guitars, a bass, and percussions (along with some sampling) these guys create an excellent soundscape with Cast Shadows on Clouds. If you happen to be near Sault Ste Marie, Ontario you can catch them tomorrow night (May 22nd) at Foggy Notions.
Although I admit that this music is out of sync with my regular posts, I really enjoyed this compilation, pretty much straight through to the last, and I hope you will too.
