I have been meaning to post something from the latest WM Recordings release, Die Fenster des Detlev Sierks [WM061]. Here it is.This composition was released on April 5 and is a real gem. Anyone who knows me knows that I'm a sucker for the saxophone. Die Fenster des Detlev Sierks is a wonderful exploration of the possibilities that exist when you pair a traditional instrument with modern sampling techniques.
It is presented in the form of a virtual concert performance.
All in one, the structure is somewhat conventional with a soloist on soprano- and tenor saxophone, accompanied by a full orchestra or small instrumental groups like a jazz combo, a string quartet or a drum band. Sometimes one or two additional soloists act as ‘side kicks’ to the principal soloist.With a weekend of wind and rain in the forecast, this will be an excellent soundtrack. I hope it works where you are right now.
All movements of this version of Die Fenster des Detlev Sierks are constructed with samples. In other words: virtual music for the virtual community!
